KidCast is a video player for children that plays video you already own, from a server on your own network. It is built so that there is nothing to collect.
Nothing.
KidCast has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal information. We could not identify a user of this app if we tried, because the app never contacts us.
This is not a policy choice we could quietly reverse in an update: the app contains no analytics or advertising SDK of any kind, and its privacy manifest declares no collected data types.
These never leave the device:
The username and password for your network share are stored in the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted by the system. They are never written to the app's database, never written to logs, and never included in an error message.
They are used for exactly one thing: connecting to the server address you entered. That connection goes directly from your iPad to your own server, over your own network.
KidCast makes no network connections other than to the server address you configure. There is no telemetry, no update check, no content feed and no third-party service of any kind.
KidCast is designed for children, and it is designed so that a child using it generates no data about themselves that anyone outside the household can see.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, because we do not collect personal information from anyone. There is no chat, no comments, no user-generated content, no social features, no external links inside the child's screens, and no advertising.
All content in KidCast is content the parent chose and supplied. The app cannot recommend, suggest or surface anything the parent did not add.
KidCast contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
KidCast includes open-source libraries for video playback and network file access. They run entirely on your device and send nothing anywhere. They are listed with their licences in the app, under Parent Settings › About.
Deleting the app removes everything described above from your iPad. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, there is nothing further to request or erase.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Any change that involved collecting data would also require a new app version and a new privacy declaration reviewed by Apple.
